Have You Ever Wondered if You Chose the Wrong Tutor Rate?
Have you ever wondered if you chose the wrong tutor rate? You're not alone. Danielle Khlar submitted this question,
“I just started a tutoring business. I have a background in education and work for the local school system. I hired an excellent math tutor who can tutor middle school math, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, trigonometry, and calculus. I am having trouble closing the deal with the client. My prices are set as following: $45/hour at two specific locations and $50/hour for 1.5 hour session costing $75 for the session at a further location. What do you think the problem is? Is it the price structure? That I am a new business? Or something else? -Thanks Danielle”
How to Select Your Tutor Rate
In response to Danielle's question, I brought on Stacey Howe-Lott, owner of Stellar Scores online SAT tutoring to discuss how to select that rate. We discuss pricing in the beginning and then get right to the heart of Danielle's question.

I would LOVE to make this podcast a weekly deal, but it takes a community to do so! Keep your questions coming and I can keep the show going. Have you left a review yet for the podcast? I'd be so grateful if you would.
Looking forward to learning from you!
Thanks Irma! How did the move go?
Thanks Kelly!
My business coach dared me to raise my rates.
After listening to your podcast, I learned how to “justify” my rates so that I am comfortable. I don’t tutor SAT’s but I will assess student competence more formally at the beginning of our relationship so I have something to show the parents at the conclusion. This is just one thing I got from your pod cast? I just found you online today and am grateful and a new fan!
