Step 1: Online Tutoring Practice
Estimated time to complete: 30 min. – 1 Hour
Over the past 8 modules we have provided opportunities to practice with a designated partner and suggested a goal for your online tutoring practice session. We want you to know that practice doesn’t need to end just because the course is soon to be over. Feel free to reach out to your fellow OTS tutors in our Google+ community and set up your own online group tutoring practice.
Go ahead! Don’t be shy! Try it out now while the course is still in session. If you would like to set up a group session so that you can practice this week’s topic, head on over to Google+ and ask others in our group to join you.
What if you don’t plan on providing group tutoring sessions? Feel free to practice something you still need help with online. Reach out on Google + and ask a member to meet up with you.
Step 2: Group Tutoring Sessions
Estimated time to complete: 20 min.
We’ve completed a lot of tasks to help you find the tutoring platform that works best with your business, practiced one-to-one online tutoring, and worked through finding clients and marketing goals. The one task we haven’t discussed much is online tutoring strategies for an environment that has one tutor with many students.
Take a few minutes and read the article, 9b. One Tutor, Many Students. Within this article we will take a look back at specific online tutoring tools and how you can use them to organize the online environment for a group of students instead of one-to-one tutoring.
Step 3: Google+ and Group Tutoring
Estimated time to complete: 30 min.
As mentioned in step 1, our Google+ community will remain even after the course ends. Let's take some time and practice reaching out to our fellow tutors in the community during this step.
After you read the article, 9b. One Tutor, Many Students, head on over to our Google+ community and let us know what ideas or questions you have for group tutoring. We can’t wait to hear about them. We know some of our best teaching/tutoring ideas have come from colleagues we know and respect! We can’t wait to learn from you!
Watch bonus video with Lauren Gaggioli, the owner of Higher Scores Test Prep. She has a unique business that serves large groups of students through video and group video calls.
Check our calendar below for upcoming events. We like to take Q and A calls and do additional training. We'll notify you via email when they come up.
